Duncan Opens Up About Balancing Music and Acting: “I’m Not Done With Music”.
Despite delving into the world of acting, South African rapper Duncan reassures fans that he’s not abandoning his music career anytime soon. His recent foray into acting has been met with enthusiasm, but music remains his first love.
Duncan’s venture into acting took off with his debut role in Netflix’s film “Big Nunu’s Little Heist,” alongside Mpho Popps and Kagiso Lediga. While the rapper initially had reservations about acting, he embraced the opportunity when it presented itself.
“Acting wasn’t something I was actively pursuing,” Duncan confessed in an interview with TshisaLIVE. “I had been offered roles before, but I felt I wasn’t quite ready. I have immense respect for the acting industry; it’s a craft that people often study for years.”
The rapper credits a friend named Thulani for nudging him towards his first acting gig. “Thulani recommended me for a role in the movie, and to my surprise, the casting directors loved what they saw,” Duncan explained. “I ended up auditioning via phone and landed the role of ‘Mancane’ in ‘Big Nunu’s Little Heist.'”
Learning the ropes of acting on set proved to be both challenging and rewarding for Duncan. “I observed my fellow actors closely and picked up techniques as I went along,” he revealed. “But mastering emotions was the toughest part. It takes multiple takes to get a scene just right, and directors were patient in guiding me through the process.”

Despite his newfound passion for acting, Duncan reassures fans that music remains his priority. “I’m currently working on my album, ‘Incwadi Yezono, The Book of Sins,’ which is set to release this year,” he shared. “Music is my lifeblood, and I have no plans of retiring anytime soon. There’s still so much more I want to accomplish in the music industry.”
